[Back to Kinase PKCi]
Substrate: F11R

Description: Junctional adhesion molecule A precursor (JAM-A) (Junctional adhesionmolecule 1) (JAM-1) (Platelet adhesion molecule 1) (PAM-1) (PlateletF11 receptor) (CD321 antigen).

Synonyms: JAM1, JCAM

Ensembl ID: ENSG00000158769

UniprotKB/SwissProt: JAM1_HUMAN (Q9Y624)

Function: Seems to plays a role in epithelial tight junction formation. Appears early in primordial forms of cell junctions and recruits PARD3. The association of the PARD6-PARD3 complex may prevent the interaction of PARD3 with JAM1, thereby preventing tight junction assembly (By similarity). Plays a role in regulating monocyte transmigration involved in integrity of epithelial barrier. Involved in platelet activation.

Other Modifications: View all modification sites in dbPTM

Protein Subcellular Localization: Cell junction, tight junction; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Note=Localized at tight junctions of both epithelial and endothelial cells.
